The Poás is one of the volcanoes in Costa Rica.
Geography
The volcano has a height of 2708 meters and is located about 150 kilometers southeast of Rincon de la Vieja Parque Nacional Volcán Poás. On its flanks, among others, coffee is grown.
The Poás houses two crater lakes. The better known and northern active crater has a diameter of just over 1500 meters is about 300 feet deep and runs the Laguna Caliente, whose diameter is 365 meters. It is an acid lake with a pH of less than 1 and thus one of the most acidic crater lakes in the world. His caustic water is intensely turquoise blue. The other crater is named Botos.
Tourism
The Poás is one of the tourist attractions of Costa Rica, as a well- paved road leads almost to the edge of the crater.
