Pocono IndyCar 500

The Pocono IndyCar 400 is an automobile race in Long Pond, Pennsylvania, United States. It was first held in 1971 as a race in the USAC Championship Car. It took until 1989, a year and counted out 1982 Indy Car World Series. 2013, returned to the racing calendar of the IndyCar Series.

History

On the Pocono Raceway, a race of the highest class of American Championship Car Racing has been discharged with the Schaefer 500 in 1971. The race took until 1989 with changing names a year. 1982 moved to the Indy Car World Series. With the Pocono 500 took place in 1989 for the time being the last time an IndyCar race held at Pocono Raceway.

2013 returned the event under the name Pocono IndyCar 400 in the racing calendar of the IndyCar Series back. Together with the Indianapolis 500 and the MAVTV 500 it belonged to the Triple Crown.
