Podbořany

Podbořany ( German Podersam ) is a city in the Czech Republic. Lies 14 kilometers southwest of Žatec and belongs to Okres Louny.

Geography

Podbořany is located north of Rakonitzer mountain country in the Saaz pan. The city is located to the right of Dolánecký creek and flows through creek of its cash Kyselý.

Neighboring towns are Vysoke Třebušice in the north, Pšov, Dolánky and Rumplák in the northeast, Letov and Blšany in the east, in the southeast Očihov, Valov in the south, Vroutek in the southwest, and Hlubany Buškovice in the west and Brody and Krasny Dvur in the northwest.

History

The first documented mention of Podbořany dates back to 1369th d Christoph J. Schlick gave Podbořany on 11 November 1575 city rights. 1590 was the city from 77 houses. Until the mid-17th century Podbořany had seven city gates, the upper, lower, Rudiger, Kaadener, Letauer, Prague and Lubauer gate, have been carved to 1677.

Between 1870 and 1872 by the building of the railway from Pilsen to Saaz by Italians and Croats. Nearby kaolin and Tonwerke were operated.

The city is divided into the Katastralbezirke Buškovice, Dolánky u Kaštic, Hlubany, Kaštice, Kněžice u Podbořan, Letov, Neprobylice u Kaštic, Podbořany, Pšov u Podbořan, Syrovice and Valov. Basic settlement units are Buškovice, Dolánky, Hlubany, Kaštice, Ke Krásnému Dvoru, Kněžice, Letov, Mariánská, Mory, Na kotvě, Na pískách, Neprobylice, Oploty, Podbořany -jih, Podbořany -sever, Podbořany - střed, Pšov, Rumplák ( lumber mill), Syrovice, cihelen U, U nádrazí, Valov and Za Malou Osadou.
