A collar tie is a narrow piece of bright material that is buttoned directly into the collar of a jacket.

This hardly common item of clothing was and still is mainly used in the service uniforms of armies to prevent a sweaty uniform of the substance of the supported without protective shirt field jacket or suit of the field at the neck (so-called collar bacon). The collar tie is normally changed daily.
