Point Hope is a city in North Slope Borough in the U.S. state of Alaska.

Geography

Point Hope is located at the tip of a promontory on the north-western end of the Lisburne Peninsula on the coast of the Chukchi Sea. In the area there is an arctic climate. 330 miles northeast of Point Hope is the town of Barrow, the administrative seat of the North Slope boroughs.

History

The Point Hope Peninsula is one of the oldest areas of Alaska, which has been thoroughly colonized by the semi-nomadic living Inupiat. Some settlements on the peninsula have existed for 2,500 years.
