Pola Gauguin

Pola Gauguin, born as Paul Gauguin Rollon, (December 6, 1883 in Paris, France, † July 2, 1961 in Copenhagen, Denmark ) was a Danish- Norwegian painter, art critic and biographer.

Life

Pola Gauguin was the son of Paul Gauguin and brother of Jean René Gauguin. According to the laws of the French Republic, he was the son of a French French citizen ( or descent ). He grew up in Copenhagen and married there in 1910 Ingrid Blehr. The couple had a son, René Paul Gaugin. The couple moved in 1912 to Oslo in Norway to where Gauguin in 1916 accepted the Norwegian citizenship. He finally settled down in 1949 in Copenhagen.

His biographies include works on the Norwegian painter Henrik Lund (painter), as well as Christian Krohg, Edvard Munch and Ludvig Karsten.
