Poland women's national volleyball team

The Polish national volleyball team of women is a selection of the best Polish players who represented the Polish Association ( Polski Związek Pilki Siatkowej ) in international tournaments and international matches.

History

World Championships

In the first volleyball World Cup 1952, the Polish women celebrated their biggest success so far, as they were defeated by the host Soviet Union only in the finale. In the next three tournaments, there were two third and a fourth. After missing the World Cup in 1967 there were in the 1970s, with rank nine and eleven significantly worse rankings. After a long break Poland came back in 2002, but did not on the 13th rank out. At the 2006 World Cup, the Poles failed in the second round. In ninth place we ended up at the 2010 World Cup.

Olympic games

Poland won the first two tournaments in 1964 and 1968 respectively bronze and was no longer taking it. Beijing 2008 the Polish women managed only one victory against Venezuela; so they dropped out after the first round and were ninth.

European Championships

In the first eight European Volleyball Championships from 1949 to 1971 Poland was always among the top three teams. 1949, 1955, 1958 and 1971, the Poles occupied the third rank; 1950, 1951, 1963 and 1967, they each lost the final against the Soviet Union. After the results were gradually worse. In the 1980s and 1990s, Poland was mostly for ninth. In 1993, the Polish women missed her so far only European Championship tournament. From the late 1990s, things were looking up again. 2003, Poland was a final victory against host Turkey for the first time European champions. Two years later succeeded against Italy Titelverteidung. At Euro 2007 Poland was fourth. 2009 brought to the bronze medal at the European Championships in 2011 and Poland was fifth.

World Cup

Poland, in 2003 for the first time at the World Cup and was part of eight. 2007, there was the sixth.

World Grand Prix

The first participation in the World Grand Prix, the Poles occupied the eighth place in 2004. A year later, they escalated to a rank and after the setback in 2006 ( twelfth ) they reached in 2007 to sixth place. In 2008, she was tenth, seventh in 2009, sixth in 2010 and 2011 tenth.
