Police (Vsetín District)

Police ( German Politz, formerly Pohlitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located eight kilometers west of Valašské Meziříčí and belongs to Okres Vsetín.

Geography

Police located at the foot of the Hostýnské mountains in the hills of Kelčská pahorkatina. The village is located on the left side above the valley of Loučka on the hill Za Pousti ( 445 m). On the southern edge of the railway line and Holešov Valašské Meziříčí runs, the railway station located there bears the name of Police u Valašského Meziříčí. History

The first written mention of the episcopal rule Kelč associated Policz village was in 1383, when the Olomouc Bishop Peter Jelito on the initiative of the castellan of Šaumburk, Arkleb of Kunštát, the Vogt Mikuláš granted to his ancestors by the former bishops ancient privileges confirmed.
