Polish Republic

As Polish Republic ( Rzeczpospolita Polska pln ) or the Republic of Poland (and some of the history of Lithuania ) denotes sections of the history of Poland:

  • The First Polish Republic ( Rzeczpospolita Obojga Narodów ) of 1386 / 1569 to 1795 (see Aristocratic Republic)
  • The Second Polish Republic ( II Rzeczpospolita, II RP) from 1918 to 1939 (see interwar period )
  • The People's Republic of Poland ( Polska Rzeczpospolita Ludowa, PRL) from 1944 / 1952 to 1989 (under the supremacy of the Soviet Union)
  • The Third Polish Republic ( Rzeczpospolita III, III RP) since 1989 (describing the history of Poland since the end of the communist regime )
