Polytechnic Institute of Lisbon

The Polytechnic Institute of Lisbon (Portuguese: Instituto Politécnico de Lisboa, short IPL) is a technical college in the Portuguese capital Lisbon.

The IPL is one of a number of technical universities in Portugal, all of which are state-run. The college was founded in 1986 and is one of its six schools and two institutes of 14,540 students and 1335 professors (as of 1st semester 2012).

Train

The Polytechnic Institute of Lisbon consists of six so-called schools ( escolas ):

  • The dancing high school Escola Superior de Dança ( ESD)
  • Scientific education school Escola Superior de Educação de Lisboa ( ESELx )
  • Communication Graduate School of Escola Superior de Comunicação Social ( ESCS )
  • The Musikhochschule Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa ( ESML )
  • The theater and film school Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema ( ESTC )
  • The Health Sciences School Escola Superior de Tecnologia da Saúde de Lisboa ( ESTeSL )

There are also two other facilities:

  • The Financial Research Institute Instituto Superior de Contabilidade e Administração de Lisboa ( Iscal )
  • The Engineering Research Institute Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Lisboa ( ISEL )
