The Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya ( UPC) (, Polytechnic University of Catalonia '; Spanish Universidad Politécnica de Cataluña ) is a technical university in Barcelona.

The first direct forerunner of the University, the Institute Politècnic Superior was founded in 1968. In March 1971, the Universitat Politècnica de Barcelona was founded on this basis, then the 1984 because its dissemination across the region took its present name.

The UPC is now one of the largest technical universities in Spain with approximately 33,000 students and 2,500 professors and researchers. It has 16 faculties and seven affiliated schools whose campuses are still in Castelldefels, Manresa, Sant Cugat del Vallès, Terrassa and Vilanova i la Geltrú except in Barcelona.

On the university campus is located at the Mare Nostrum, a supercomputer, which stood at its commissioning in 2004 to # 4 on the TOP500 list of the world's most powerful supercomputers.

The University is a member of the TIME network, which will allow students to participate in a dual degree program with leading universities abroad.
