The Epagneul de Pont -Audemer is one of the FCI (No. 114, Gr. 7, sec 1.2) recognized French breed.
Origin and History
The breed came to the end of the 19th century in the region of Normandy / Picardy. The name comes from the town of Pont -Audemer in Normandy. His ancestors were probably the Irish Water Spaniel and a domestic long-haired Vorstehhundrasse. The goal was a dog that was suitable for water work. But it also proved to be due to its other ancestors, that he was very well suited for hunting in open terrain. Typical of a water dog he has the persianerartig ruffled, slightly oily skin, the water can hardly likely to reach the skin.
Short Description
The Epagneul de Pont -Audemer is up to 58 cm a medium-sized, sturdy dog of distinctive appearance: a typical water dog. Typically, his hair is curled perianerartig, slightly tomentose, preferably oily gray interspersed chestnut brown or maroon. The ears are flat, slightly low set, so that the jaws remain free; occupied with long and strong silk ruffled hair that goes into the hair and forms a beautiful, ruffled, his head well framing wig with this.
Nature
The Epagneul de Pont -Audemer is not sensitive, tolerant and playful. He loves the water every season. He can train well.
Use
The Epagneul de Pont -Audemer is a good hunting dog for the water and for the open field and is used as a family dog .
