Pope Paul I

Paul I († June 28 767 in Rome) was the brother Stephen II He was diagnosed on May 29, 757 to his successor as pope. The two came from the family of the Orsini.

Paul showed his election as Pope on the basis of the existing disputes between the Church of the East and of the West, not the eastern emperor, but rather the Frankish king.

Since the Franks were bound by fighting with the Lombards in their home territory, leaving only the knowledge of the faithful ally Paul survive the difficulties of his pontificate.

On June 28, 767 Paul I died his remains were soon after his funeral in St. Paul transferred to St. Peter.

The Catholic feast day is June 28 date of his death.
