Poříčany

Poříčany ( German Poritschan, also Porschitzan ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located six kilometers northeast of Český Brod and belongs to Okres Kolin.

Geography

Poříčany located in the valley Šembera on the Bohemian panel. Southwest of the hill rises Zálužník ( Kaunitz mountain, 285 m). To the north is the Kersko forest. At the local hill pískový vrch and east of the village several sand pits are operated. North of the village runs the D 11/Europastraße 67 highway, there is also the next exit 25 Sadská.

Neighboring towns are Třebestovice and Vycherov in the northeast, Milčice in the east, and Hořany Žhery the southeast, Klučov in the south, Štolmíř the southwest, Kounice in the west and Horky and Chrást in the northwest.

History

Archaeological finds indicate towards a first settlement in the Neolithic period. Since the 8th century, there was a Slavic settlement. The first written mention of the village took place in 1295th Since the 14th century a fortified church is occupied, which was the parish church in 1358. Also was a parish school. The estate belonged to the family of Olbramovice 1414 and from 1430 the miners Vochek of Poříčany. This 1547 fought on the side of Dionis Slavata of Chlum the uprising against the Habsburgs.
