Port O'Brien

Port O'Brien was a native of California indie / folk band. The band consisted of Van Pierszalowski (vocals, guitar), Cambria Goodwin ( banjo, vocals, mandolin ), Tyson Vogel ( drums), Ryan Stively (bass) and Gram Lebron (guitar, keyboards).

History

Port O'Brien was formed in 2005 for the first time at a folk duo. The band's name came from one bay of Kodiak Island in Alaska, where there was a now-defunct cannery, where the parents of the band 's founder Pierszalowski had met.

First, the band still consisted of Van Pierszalowski and his girlfriend Cambria Goodwin, which together took up the first few rudimentary acoustic EPs and those sold at concerts. A year later were joined by the drummer and bassist Joshua Barnhart Caleb Nichols, who was later replaced by Ryan Stively. The end of 2007 came as the last member Zebedee Zaitz as a guitarist in the band. Barnhart and Zaitz left the band in early 2009 and were replaced by Tyson Vogel ( Two Gallants ) and Gram Lebron.

During her active years the band toured with Nada Surf, Bright Eyes and Modest Mouse.

In May 2011, the band announced their dissolution.
