Port of Morrow (album)

Port of Morrow is the fifth album by the American indie band The Shins. The album was recorded in Los Angeles and Portland over the course of 2011. James Mercer took over the songwriting and singing. It was produced by Greg Kurstin. Remixed it has Rich Costey.

Charts and reception

( :; Austria No. 33: No. 35 and Switzerland: # 33 Germany ) and held for a week in the charts in the German-speaking countries, the album reached the Top 40. In the United Kingdom Port of Morrow sidewalk at # 11 and was represented two weeks in the charts while it reached # 3 in the United States. Also in the top 10, placed the album at number 9 in Norway and Australia at number 4 Furthermore, Port of Morrow placed in the Netherlands at number 20 in Belgium at No. 24, in Sweden at number 35 in Denmark 25th place in Spain on the 48th and in New Zealand on 17th Place

Heather Phares of Allmusic awarded the album 3.5 out of 5 stars. Although the album does not sound the way you used it was by the Shins, but most of the songs are tempting enough to make most fans happy criticized .. Erich Renz of laut.de that much on the album " either too much polished or [ ... ] absolutely matt " is. This looks different Larry Fitzmaurice of Pitchfork. For him, the album is the triumphant return of a musical project that was previously exposed to the risk of drifting away from the indie corner into the mainstream. However, with Port of Morrow put Mercer everything in the shade of what he had previously created musically with the Shins.
