Portes du Soleil

Portes du Soleil [ pɔʀtədysɔlɛj ] is a French -Swiss ski area in the Haute- Savoie region in the canton of Valais. In France, it includes the ski resorts of Morzine ( with Avoriaz ), Chatel, Montriond, La Chapelle- d'Abondance, Saint -Jean- d'Aulps, Les Gets, Abondance, in Switzerland, the ski resorts of Champéry, Val- d'Illiez ( with Cham Poussin and Les Crosets ) and Morgins and Torgon.

With over 650 kilometers of ski slopes, the ski resort is one of the largest in Europe. 2008 here the IV World Cup in ski mountaineering in 2008 was held.

The name of the Portes du Soleil (French for sun goals) the traditional pass crossing of Les Crosets Morgins is borrowed ( far right ).
