The Porto Santo Airport, in Portuguese Aeroporto de Porto Santo, is a Portuguese airport on Porto Santo.

History

The decision to build the first airport of Porto Santo dates from 1959 and was strongly supported by the NATO. At its opening in 1960, the start and runway was 2000 feet long. The first flight on July 20, 1960, carried out by TAP Portugal with a DC-4.

Over the years, the start and runway were later extended until at 2440 to 3000 meters and made ​​more work on the equipment and the aprons of the airport. 1995 a new terminal was inaugurated.

From there, the airline SATA Air Açores, TAP Portugal and Viking Airlines operate the airports of Funchal, Lisbon, Porto and the airport London Gatwick.
