Portrait (literature)

Portrait referred to in the literature, the literary representation of a person or an object as small genus or genre. The term is based on the portrait of the visual arts, which attempts to bring the essence or personality of a person to express: A literary portrait often gives deep insight, and offers a differentiated and comprehensive presentation. Important literary portrait artists are, inter alia, Elias Canetti, Stefan Zweig or WG Sebald.
