Portuguese Handball First Division

Andebol 1 is the highest league in the Portuguese men 's handball. Organizer of the competition has been held since 1953 is the Portuguese Handball Federation Federação de Andebol de Portugal.

Mode

In the main round (1a bevel) the twelve teams play in round-trip round against each of the rankings. The first six reach the Master Round ( Fase Final - Grupo A), the lowest six the relegation round ( Fase Final - Grupo B). The points from the main round will be taken. Then again plays within each group against each in home and away game. The two worst teams in the Grupo B from rising. The winner of the Grupo A is Portuguese champions and qualified for the EHF Champions League. The second and third placed teams may participate in the EHF European Cup and the fourth at the EHF Challenge Cup.
