Posada, Lower Silesian Voivodeship

Posada ( German Rusdorf until 1903 Russdorf ) is a village with 290 inhabitants in Poland. It belongs to the municipality of Bogatynia in powiat Zgorzelecki, Lower Silesian Voivodeship.

Geographical location

Posada is 3 km south of Ostritz in the valley of the Lusatian Neisse river on the right bank opposite the monastery of St. Marienthal. Through the village, the route of the Neisse Valley Railway, which stops Bratków Zgorzelecki located in Posada, it bears the name of the neighboring village Bratków and is no longer operated.

History

The first mention of Rudunchesdorf is from 1273, from Tietzo of Chottow the monastery sold part of the village. After further purchases in 1329 finally was the whole place Rudingsdorf in the monastery owned, and in 1346 King John confirmed. Gepfarrt the village was to Ostritz and not to the parish in the neighboring village Königshain.

Over the centuries, the name of locality developed over pack Dorff in use since the Thirty Years War Rusdorf form or Russdorf.

Built at the end of the 18th century Catholic village school soon proved too small and in 1853 of the consecration of the new school. With the commissioning of the Neisse Valley Railway by Nick Risch to Zittau Rusdorf received a station. The place gained thereby also important for tourism and became the starting point for excursions in the south to romantic Neißetal to Rohnau and Rosenthal. 1881 opened a post office in Rusdorf.

1898 was built on the outskirts the evangelical school and prayer house. The neo-Gothic and crowned with a pointed bell tower building on the Neisse slope was visible from afar and became the symbol of Rusdorf. To clean the different spellings also officially used the name Rusdorf 1903 made ​​compulsory.

1922 Rusdorf, together with the monastery freedom and the monastic community to Marienthal / Sa. united, which had its seat in Rusdorf and 1925 992 inhabitants. With the direct connection of the schools during the Nazi era, the lower school was taught in the former Catholic school and the older students went to the former Protestant school.

After the Second World War, the previously belonging to Amtshauptmannschaft Zittau village was Polish and was named Posada. This was also the dissolution of the community Marienthal / Sa. connected, the monastery freedom left of the Neisse located and the convent remained in Saxony and were incorporated to Ostritz.

The German inhabitants were expelled in 1945. Posada became a part of the community Działoszyn and then incorporated with this by Bogatynia. The former school and prayer house fell into ruin. Following the enormous train stop was previously ceased to exist, since 2000, run no more Polish trains on the track, only the German rail link through Posada.

On the right bank of the Neisse Poetenweg leads to Krzewina, the Polish town near Ostritz. In Posada are several Upper Lusatian half-timbered houses, some of which are in poor condition. In 2003, an agreement to build a bridge between Neisse Marienthal and Posada was hit by the mayors of Bogatynia and Ostritz.
