Posof (Georgian ფოცხოვი / Pozchowi ) is a town and a district of Ardahan Province in north-eastern Turkey. The Georgian name is Postkhovi, then later Duğur and currently Posof. The name actually refers to a region Posof. The place Posof was named after this region.

Posof located in the north Ardahans and is bordered to the north by Georgia and the province of Artvin. East of Posof is the border crossing Türkgözü to Georgia.

The county has 8,016 inhabitants Posof, the city 2,046 (as of 2012). Many former residents Posofs are scattered by war and displacement on Turkey. The population consists of Turks, some of which date from Kipchaks, Georgians, Laz, Tatars and Lesgiern together.
