The Pössnitz ( Lower Božnjec ) is a right tributary of the Black Elster in Brandenburg.

Course

The Pössnitz has its source southeast of Henriette, a former mining village. It happened Annahütte, then forms the boundary line between the towns of Klettwitz and Meuro and flows through the district Schipkau - Kruger mill. The further course leads through BASF Schwarzheide and the Black Heider district Obernaundorf where they ultimately caused the Schwarze Elster.

Tributaries

History

Historically, the Pössnitz was a wetland with many tributaries, marshes, ponds and beaver dams. In addition to the beaver they offered once also numerous other species habitat. With the emergence in the Lausitz lignite mining the late 19th and early 20th century, the catchment area of ​​Pössnitz was largely drained and channeled.
