Postage stamps and postal history of Hungary

The first printed by the Hungarian postal stamp was issued in 1871: two series with six different values ​​that represent the Ferenc József (Franz Joseph ).

After the First World War ended, Hungary was occupied several times (from France, Romania and Serbia), which brought every time new imprints in the Hungarian postal system.

In the early 20th century, the mythical bird " turul " or the Hungarian patron saint Stephan were mainly represented on the stamps. Over time, there have been several currencies, such as Fillér, Corona, HUF or pengő. Today, the forint is the main currency and stamps are printed with Magyarország ( ungar for Hungary). Hungary is famous for the use of gold leaf in his stamps.
