Posterior auricular artery

The artery posterior auricular ( " posterior ear artery" ) - in animal anatomy artery auricular caudalis called - is an artery from the external carotid artery, the external carotid artery, springs and parts of the outer ear, the middle and inner ear, as well as a small area of superficial soft tissues supplied head behind the ear. It crosses under the facial nerve and runs between the mastoid process and the external ear, in parts, together with the same nerve which is a branch of the facial nerve. One of their terminal branches, posterior tympanic artery, furnished along with the inferior tympanic artery from the ascending pharyngeal artery, the tympanic cavity.
