PowerCD

The PowerCD is a portable CD player from Apple, introduced in summer 1993. Meanwhile, it is no longer officially to buy, because it did not bring the hoped-for success. CD -ROM drives have been integrated as standard at this time already in the Apple computers, which is why this equipment made ​​redundant.

To play audio CDs, there is a port through which the device is connected to a stereo system. The PowerCD drive can also play Kodak Photo CDs in addition to audio CDs. The images of Photo- CDs can be displayed via a composite cable to a TV. The PowerCD can be connected via SCSI to a computer and thereby make available data CDs.

The PowerCD weighs 1.4 kg and can either be powered by an AC adapter or eight AA batteries with electricity, so you can use the device on the move. It is almost identical to the Philips CDF 100 and Kodak PCD 880, but which differ in the different respective logos and also have no SCSI interface.

The unit has an orange backlit LCD and six buttons on the front (Stop, Pause, Play, Next, Prev, fashion). On the top are the power button and the CD eject.

With an infrared remote control with 38 keys, the audio CD and photo CD function can be operated.
