Powerwolf

Powerwolf is a German power metal band.

History

Powerwolf was founded by brothers Charles and Matthew Greywolf. At a joint residence in Romania, they learned the there born singer Attila Dorn know who has had classical vocal training. He moved in with them to Saarbrücken and was the frontman of the band. A little later, the lineup was then completed by Stéfane Funèbre on drums and the organist Falk Maria Schlegel.

The debut album, released in 2005 Return in Bloodred was supervised by the famous producer Fredrik Nordström, who has already produced In Flames and Hammerfall. This was accompanied by a recording contract with the label Metal Blade. The publication was followed by a European tour with Gamma Ray and Nocturnal Rites and several festival appearances, including at the Summer Breeze. The following year, the band performed on festivals, including on the Bang Your Head on.

Published in 2007 the second album Lupus Dei. The band embarked on a European tour with Candlemass and another tour with Grave Digger and performed at festivals, including for the second time at the Summer Breeze. In 2008, the band was with Brainstorm and Pagan's Mind on tour in Europe and worked at the Wacken Open Air with. The third album Bible Of The Beast was released in late April 2009. Pause After two years of studio and numerous live performances, the latest album Blood of the Saints Parallel was released in July 2011. Single release of the We drink your Blood released their eponymous music video. In summer 2011, the band performed again at festivals, including in the Rock Harz Open Air, Metal Camp, and for the third time at the Summer Breeze. For 2012, a headlining tour was scheduled at which they toured with three support bands throughout Germany, in 2013 followed by appearances at the Summer Breeze and the Wacken Open Air

Recently, it was announced on their website that they have signed a contract with Napalm Records. Early 2013 was recorded the follow up album to Blood of the Saints in the German coal cellar studio and mixed in Studio Fredman Swedish.

Style

The dominant language of the texts is English, but there are also Latin ( Werewolves of Armenia, Lupus Dei ), often also German passages (Moscow After Dark, We Take the Church by Storm, Werewolves of Armenia, crossfire ) available. The lyrics of the band are influenced by religion and ancient legends of Romania. However Powerwolf not see themselves as religious band, but rather describe themselves as spiritual. In addition to the classic metal instruments organ sounds are also used. For the studio albums, a church choir was recorded.
