The PPL Park is a football stadium in the U.S. Chester, Pennsylvania.

History

Already in October 2007, before the decision on the part of the MLS Philadelphia, gave the Delaware County his consent for the construction of the stadium.

The stadium is located on the Delaware River, on the southwest corner of the Commodore Barry Bridge. The stadium was built by the T.N. Ward Company.

Overall, the stadium holds 18,500 spectators. In early 2010, the company Pennsylvania Power and Light secured eleven years, the naming rights to the stadium.

The foundation stone was laid on December 1, 2008. Since June 2010 it is the home of the Major League Soccer team Philadelphia Union.

Due to delays in the construction, Philadelphia Union first had the first season games the first season at Lincoln Financial Field unsubscribe before the stadium was opened on June 27, 2010 with a 3-1 win over the Seattle Sounders FC.

As the South Philadelphia Sports Complex is also the PPL Park on Interstate 95 nearby (1-2 km) the stations Highland Avenue and Chester Transportation Center. The Philadelphia International Airport is 8 km from the stadium. There depart hourly buses SEPTA to the stadium.
