Prabowo Subianto

Prabowo Subianto Djojohadikusumo ( born October 17, 1951 in Jakarta ) is a retired general of the Indonesian army, TNI and son of longtime President Suharto. Until his release in May 1998 after Suharto's resignation, he was one of the most powerful warlord in Indonesia.

Life

The father Sumitro Djojohadikusumo, a professor of economics, had to flee in 1957 after a failed uprising in the country, which was, despite the support of the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency failed. Prabowo spent his childhood in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, in Switzerland and in the UK until 1968, the family returned to Indonesia.

Prabowo Subianto graduated in 1974 from the military school and went to the elite unit Tim Nanggala X to East Timor, which was one of the Kopassandha forces ( Kopassus later ) two years later.
