Prallethrin is an insecticide selected from the group of pyrethroids. The E- ISO prallethrin name and CAS number refers to a racemic mixture of eight stereoisomers. The WHO specification of the substance are before a specific, differing therefrom, isomer ratio, the trans-cis ratio is about 4:1. Prallethrin is used against mosquitoes, houseflies and cockroaches in the household. In addition, it is used in some countries in veterinary medicine to treat pets.

Commercially prallethrin is available in the form of evaporator plates for electric vaporizer or as a spray.

Toxicity

When ingested, or by inhalation as an aerosol prallethrin is moderately toxic. The LD50 for oral administration was determined for male rats of 640 to female rats with 460 mg / kg body weight. The lethal concentration in exhaled air ( LC50) of 855 males and 658 mg / m³ (exposure time 4 hours) in female rats. In animal experiments prallethrin is not a skin irritant, were not observed and minimally irritating to the eyes. It is not mutagenic, there is no evidence of a carcinogenic or reproductive toxicity. Prallethrin is for aquatic organisms and bees highly toxic to birds, however, only slightly toxic.

Safety
