Pratt's sign

The Pratt - test is used in a varicose vein disorders ( varicose ) veins find that connection ( perforating veins ) between the superficial and deep venous system having insufficient venous valves.

First, the leg is held up while lying down, to drain the venous blood; then the leg is bandaged from foot to the groin region. When standing, then the bandage is removed starting from the top, while at the same time, applied from the groin beginning, a second bandage so that each one hand width of the leg remains free of bandages. Now fill the veins between the bandages, this indicates an insufficiency of the perforating veins at this point.

Just as the Trendelenburg test, Perthes test, black t - test and Mahorner - Ochsner test the Pratt test was up in the 70s of the 20th century application, but has since been through the apparatus diagnostics ( now mainly Doppler ultrasonography and digital plethysmography ) largely replaced.
