Preah Vihear Province

The Preah Vihear province (Khmer ព្រះវិហារ ) is located in northern Cambodia. The province is divided into seven districts:

  • Chhaeb
  • Choam Khsaet
  • Kulean
  • Rovieng
  • Sangkom Thmei
  • Tbeng Meanchey.

Attractions

Historic Sites

  • Prasat Preah Vihear - known temple in the north on the border with Thailand. It was built by Suryavarman I ( 1002-50 ) and Suryavarman II ( 1113-50 ). For a long time this place was difficult to access.
  • Koh Ker - The temple can also be achieved by a newly constructed road well as an excursion from Siem Reap.
  • Preah Khan - Temple in the southwest of the province.

Border disputes

The exact demarcation disputes between Thailand and Cambodia. Several times it came here armed clashes between the armed forces of both countries, who demanded even fatalities.
