Pręgowo, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship

Pręgowo ( German Prangenau ) is a village in Poland, in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. It belongs to the powiat Kętrzyński, community Ketrzyn ( Rastenburg ). The place is a mayor's office ( sołectwo ) to which no other villages belong.

Geography

The village is located in northern Poland, about five kilometers south of Kętrzyn. East of Pręgowo is the two acre lake Zakraj ( Sakray ).

History

Today's Pręgowo was founded in 1426 as citizens forest. It belonged to the city Rastenburg and had to deliver chickens and wood as taxes and keep a horse for the city. The renaming in Prangenau was possibly was due to a village mayor Hans Prangenberg. End of the 17th century Rastenburg had to sell due to financial constraints the village. 1696 - 1723 there was the place owned by Melchior Hippel (1657-1729, City Treasurer of Rastenburg ). 1729 the first school was established in the village. 1818 there were 23 houses in the resort. 1908 bought Kolde by Ludwig Pohl, a soap manufacturer, Prangenau. 1913 Christoph Laurer as owner of the greater good, called with an associated area of ​​88.5 hectares, of Prangenau. In 1935 there were twelve major and six smaller farms in the village. 1945, at the end of the Second World War the Red Army marched into the area. As a result of the war, the village became part of Poland and was renamed Pręgowo. 1970, there were in the village, a four-year elementary school, a library and a cinema spot with 30 seats. 1937 Pręgowo seat of a Schulz Office was to which belonged the towns Bocian, Turwągi and Wólka.

The village is situated on a side street which, after about a kilometer to the northwest in the Province Road 591 ( droga wojewódzka 591 ) opens.

Pręgowo does not have its own rail connection. The nearest train station is located about five kilometers in the northern Kętrzyn. From there, the PKP offers direct connections to Olsztyn and Poznan.

The geographically nearest international airport is Kaliningrad, of about 95 kilometers north-west is located on Russian territory. The nearest international airport on Polish territory is located about 190 kilometers west of Lech Walesa Airport, Gdansk.
