Premiere

The term Premiere is the first performance of an opera or production of a play and often also for the premiere or premiere of the film in a particular country. The first performance of the revival of a previously premiered plant is also called Premiere.

The word comes from French première = "first". Premieres are particularly celebrated generally and take place in an exceptionally festive setting. In film premieres it is common that the most significant contributors (director, producer, screenwriter, author, actors, etc. ) are present.

In Theater premieres belongs to the applause order, that after the first curtain of the actors receive at least director, set and costume designer in musical productions conductor or musical director, show up on the stage and applause or other reactions of the audience.

The antonym to premiere is the Dernière.
