Premiere

The term Premiere is the first performance of an opera or production of a play and often also for the premiere or premiere of the film in a particular country. The first performance of the revival of a previously premiered plant is also called Premiere.

The word comes from French première = "first". Premieres are particularly celebrated generally and take place in an exceptionally festive setting. In film premieres it is common that the most significant contributors (director, producer, screenwriter, author, actors, etc. ) are present.

The antonym to premiere is the Dernière.
