Prez -vers- Noreaz is a municipality in the District de la Sarine ( German: Sarine district) of the Canton of Fribourg in Switzerland.

Geography

Prez -vers- Noreaz is located at 646 meters above sea level. M., 11 km west-southwest of the capital of the canton of Fribourg (air line). The long road village on the southern edge extends slightly increased the level of Lac de Seedorf, at the foot of the altitude La Brillaz, in Molassehügelland of Fribourg Mittelland.

Population

With 937 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) Prez -vers- Noreaz one of the smaller municipalities of the canton of Fribourg. Of the 91.1 % inhabitants are French-speaking, German-speaking 6.1 % and 0.7 % speak Italian ( as of 2000). The population of Prez -vers- Noreaz amounted in 1900 to 549 inhabitants. After peaking in 1920 with 615 inhabitants, the population increased to 1960 by over 20 % to 485 persons. Since then, a significant population growth was recorded.

Economy

Prez -vers- Noreaz was until the second half of the 20th century, mainly coined by farming village. The water power of the Arbogne was formerly used for the operation of a mill. Even today, the farming, fruit growing, dairy farming and livestock have an important place in the economic structure of the population. More jobs are in small local manufacturing and services available, including companies in the precision engineering and computer science as well as in carpentry. Prez -vers- Noreaz is the site of a horse riding center. In recent decades, the village has developed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who work mainly in the regions of Freiburg and Payerne.

Traffic

The community is conveniently comparatively quite well developed. It lies on the main road from Freiburg to Payerne, branches off the access road from Romont of the village. History

The territory of Prez -vers- Noreaz was settled very early. Here the remains of a Roman aqueduct and Roman baths were found. The first documentary mention of the place was in the 12th century under the name Pratellis. Later the names Pree, Prees and Prez appeared. The place name comes from the Latin diminutive pratellum ( small way ).

Since the 12th century was Prez -vers- Noreaz as fiefs under the rule Montagny. By buying reached the village in 1478 under the rule of Freiburg and the Bailiwick Montagny has been assigned. After the collapse of the ancien régime (1798 ) was one of Prez -vers- Noreaz during the Helvetic Republic to the district of Payerne, from 1803 to the district Montagny and in 1815 the district of Freiburg, before it was incorporated in 1848 with the new cantonal constitution in the Sarine district.

Attractions

The parish church got its present shape in the new construction in 1835 in the style of classicism. Next to it is a barn with Built in 1876, also classical stone facade. In the western part of the village stands a manor house, built in 1746 for the Féguely family. The rectangular two-storey building with mansard roof has a large staircase. It was used from 1892 as the school is now home to the savings bank.
