Prime Minister of Iceland

The Prime Minister of Iceland (Icelandic: Forsætisráðherra Íslands ) is the Prime Minister of Iceland. He is appointed by the President of Iceland and exercises together with the cabinet, the executive power from.

The first prime minister of Iceland was Hannes Hafstein, who held the office 1904-1909. Since May 23, 2013 Sigmundur Davíð Gunnlaugsson leads a coalition government of the Independence Party and the Progressive Party.
