Prime Tower (Zürich)

Prime Tower (formerly known as Maag Tower ) is a skyscraper in Zurich. The Prime Tower was built on the site of the former Maag gears & machinery limited company in Zurich, which is part of Swiss Prime Site AG today. The building is next to the train station and hard bridge was completed in 2011. With 126 meters and 36 floors it is the tallest building in Switzerland. The high-rise has on the two top floors of a restaurant and a bar and lounge.

The selection of proposals by architects from Barcelona, Basel, Berlin, Kuala Lumpur, London and Zurich fell to the proposal of Gigon / Guyer, Zurich. The Prime Tower is one of many projects in Zurich West district.

In early July 2006, the Baugespann was disconnected with the aid of a pneumatic crane and a helicopter to a height of 126 meters. The scaffold was then standing for three months.

For Prime Tower project also includes the building Cubus and Platform with seven storeys. In addition, the industrial building diagonal is being refurbished and integrated into the project.

On February 18, 2008, work began with the demolition of industrial buildings on the site. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on 19 November 2008. On 6 April 2010, the Prime Tower overtook with 105.5 meters high, then the highest building in Switzerland, the Basle Fair Tower. The top floor was concreted On 21 May 2010 the core, causing the Tower reached its final height of 126 meters.

Officially opened the skyscraper on December 6, 2011.
