Primosome

Primosom as a protein complex is referred to, which is involved in the initiation of DNA replication. Primo Omen exists only in prokaryotes. In eukaryotes other proteins perform this function.

Construction

A single Primosom is a complex of seven proteins:

  • DnaG primase
  • DnaB helicase
  • DNAC helicase helper
  • DNAT
  • PriA
  • Prib
  • Pric

Task

The Primosom is required for the setting of the RNA primer to the two single strands of the DNA to be amplified. The Helicase splits the DNA strands, the unwinding and protect against damage and breakage is however carried out by Gyraseähnlichen proteins. SSb proteins then ensure that the strand remains open, so that there will be no new base pairing. You have sort of a short-term insulation performance. Then synthesize primases the primers, and once the DNA polymerases begin, the elongation can begin. On the lagging strand Primosom part of the replication complex remains since new RNA primers are needed for the emerging here Okazaki fragments.
