Prince Emmanuel, Duke of Vendôme

Philippe Emmanuel Maximilien Marie Eudes d' Orléans, duc de Vendôme ( born January 18, 1872 in Merano, † February 1, 1931 in Cannes) was a Frenchman from the House of Orléans.

Life

Emmanuel d' Orléans was the son of Ferdinand d' Orléans, duc d' Alençon and his wife Sophie in Bavaria.

In 1891 he secretly married Louise de Maille de la Tour Landry ( 1873-1893 ), she died one day after the birth of their son Philippe ( 1893-1955 ) ∞ 1928 Elisabeth Mirou Mah Nedjid Khanuhii.

He married on 12 February 1896 in Brussels Princess Henriette of Belgium, daughter of Prince Philippe of Belgium ( 1837-1905 ) and Marie of Hohenzollern- Sigmaringen ( 1845-1912 ). From this marriage four children together emerged:

  • Marie Louise (1896-1973) ∞ 1916-1925 Philippe de Bourbon (1885-1949), Prince of the Two Sicilies
  • Sophie Josephine (1898-1928), unmarried.
  • Geneviève Marie (1901-1983) ∞ Antoine de Chaponay - Morance (1893-1956)
  • Charles Philippe (1905-1970) ∞ Margaret Watson (1899-1993)

Emmanuel d' Orléans died in 1931 at the age of 59 years in Cannes. He is buried in the grave chapel of the family members of the House of Orleans, the Chapelle royale Saint -Louis in Dreux.
