Prince George of Greece and Denmark

George Prince of Greece (born 12 Junijul / 24 June 1869greg in Corfu, .. † November 25, 1957 in Saint-Cloud ) was the second child of King George I of Greece and his wife Grand Duchess Olga Konstantinovna Romanova of Russia.

Life

In 1891 he defeated, together with two Japanese rickshaw coolies, while the Otsu Cities incident, the assassination of his cousin Nicholas, later Tsar Nicholas II

From 1898 to 1906 he was High Commissioner of the Cretan State during the transition from the Ottoman Empire to union with Greece.

Family

On November 21, 1907, he married Princess Marie Bonaparte in Paris. They had two children:

  • Petros (* December 3, 1908, † 15 October 1980), was the anthropologist by profession, married on September 9, 1939 Irene Ovtchinnikoff (* September 19, 1900; † 12 March 1990), which was already twice divorced.
  • Evgenia (* February 10, 1910, † 13 February 1989) married in first marriage on May 30, 1938 Dominicus Prince Radziwill ( born January 23, 1911 † 19 November 1976). They were divorced on 27 February 1946 and canceled church on 18 December 1952. In second marriage she married on November 28, 1949 Don Raymund Principe della Torre e Tasso, Duke of Castel Duino 2 ( born March 16, 1907 † 17 March 1986). They were divorced on 11 May 1965.

Prince George was buried in the Royal Cemetery at Tatoi.
