Prince Motor Company

The Prince JIDOSHA Kōgyō K. K. (Japaneseプリンス 自動車 工業 株式会社, Purinsu JIDOSHA Kōgyō kabushiki - gaisha, Eng. Prince Motor Company) was a Japanese automobile manufacturer, which built 1966 luxury cars and commercial vehicles from 1947 until the takeover by Nissan in August.

History

After the Second World War, the aircraft manufacturer Tachikawa Hikoki taught new on the automotive industry. Was used a borrowed factory in Chofu, Kitatama -gun, Tokyo Prefecture. Since at this time the gasoline was rationed, the focus has been on battery-powered electric vehicles. 1946, the first two prototypes Truck type EOT -46 were produced, which were based on a Ōta model. 1947 was followed by the fully self-developed prototype EOT -47. 1949, the company name (Eng. "Electric vehicles Tama "たま 電気 自動車, ) was on Tama Denki JIDOSHA changed. Prince successfully built luxury automobiles. The most popular model series were the Skyline and Gloria which were taken after the takeover by Nissan in their model range. The Prince organization remained within the Nissan group, even if they disappeared as a car brand. As a sales organization for Nissan cars within Japan, it still exists today. They also apparently plays a role in the development department of Nissan.
