Princess Astrid Coast

The Princess Astrid Coast ( norwegian Prinsessegaten Astrid Kyst ) is located between the 5 ° and 20 ° east longitude, in the Queen Maud Land, which is claimed by Norway, which is not recognized internationally. West of the coast lies the Crown Princess Martha Coast and to the east lies the Princess Ragnhild Coast. On the coast bordering the Lazarev Sea and the Riiser -Larsen Lake, both are marginal seas of the Southern Ocean.

The coast was discovered in March 1931 by Captain Hans Halvorsen, who steered the factory ship New Sivilla. The coast was named after Princess Astrid of Norway.

Several countries have research stations in this area.
