Princess Cecilie of Greece and Denmark
Princess Cecilia of Greece and Denmark ( born June 22, 1911 in Athens, † November 16, 1937 in Steene, near Ostend ) was a member of the House of Schleswig -Holstein -Sonderburg- Glücksburg.
Parents
Cecilia was the third daughter of Prince Andrew of Greece and Denmark (1882-1944) and his wife Alice of Battenberg (1885-1969), and the granddaughter of paternal King George I of Greece and Grand Duchess Olga Romanova Konstantinovna, a niece of Tsar Alexander II maternal your grandparents were Prince Louis of Battenberg, later Louis Mountbatten, 1st Marquess of Milford Haven and Princess Victoria of Hesse- Darmstadt and by Rhine, who was a granddaughter of Queen Victoria.

Marriage and children
Cecilia married on January 23, 1931 in Darmstadt Georg Donatus ( 1906-1937 ), son of Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig of Hesse -Darmstadt and his second wife Eleonore of Solms- Hohensolms - Lich ( 1871-1937 ). From this marriage the following children were born:
- Ludwig Ernst Andreas (1931-1937, plane crash )
- Alexander Georg Karl Heinrich (1933-1937, plane crash )
- Johanna Marina Eleonore (1936-1939)
Shortly after the death of her father, in October 1937, her two sons and her mother died the pregnant Cecilia, her husband, in a plane crash near Ostend, Belgium. They were on their way to the wedding of her brother Louis (1908-1968) and his future wife Margaret Campbell Geddes (1913-1997), which took place in London on 17 November 1937.
Their little daughter was adopted by Ludwig Hermann Alexander and his wife, however, died in 1939 from meningitis.

On 1 May 1937 she joined the NSDAP.
