Princess Marie of Prussia (1855–1888)

Princess Marie of Prussia, full name Marie Elisabeth Louise Frederika of Prussia ( born September 14, 1855 Marble Palace in Potsdam, † June 20, 1888 in Dresden) was a member of the House of Hohenzollern and by marriage Princess of the Netherlands, later Princess of Saxe - Altenburg.

Life

Princess Marie was the eldest daughter of the Prussian Field Marshal Prince Frederick Charles Nicholas of Prussia (1828-1885) and his wife, Princess Maria Anna of Anhalt- Dessau (1837-1906), in turn, youngest daughter of Duke Leopold Friedrich IV and the Princess Friederike of Prussia.

On August 24, 1878 married Princess Marie at the New Palace in Potsdam Prince Henry of Orange - Nassau ( 1820-1879 ), governor of Luxembourg since 1850 and Admiral Lieutenant. He was the third son of the Dutch King William II and his wife, Grand Duchess Anna Pavlovna of Russia.
