As of Prints and Drawings are referred to the special collection of drawings and prints, not only of engravings, a museum. For this reason, alternative concepts more modern coinage as " Graphic Collection " or " Graphic Arts Cabinet " of these are common.

The term Cabinet is derived from a smaller space within a castle where a prince kept his special collections. He was called also Wunderkammer or Cabinet Art. This princely collections were the precursor of the public museums.

Large copper engraving cabinets, there are, for example, in the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, the Louvre in Paris, the Albertina in Vienna, the British Museum in London and the Metropolitan Museum of Art
