Priority Records

Priority Records is an American record label. It is now owned and under the administration of the label EMI Music. Mainly through the promotion and production of various hip-hop and rap artists have made ​​a name for Priority Records.

The beginnings

The sedentary in Los Angeles, the firm was founded in 1985 by Bryan Turner, Mark Cerami and Steve Drath. The years 1987-2001 were the most successful for Priority Records. Music greats like NWA, Ice Cube, Master P, Snoop Dogg, Mack 10, Westside Connection, Eazy -E and Ice-T were among their charges.

The takeover by EMI Music

In the early 1990s closed Priority Records with EMI Music a distribution agreement. By 1996, the label remained completely independent, until it was bought for half of EMI Music. In 1998 the company went completely into the possession of the much larger labels. Before Priority Records completely merged with the EMI subsidiary Capitol Records in 2001, they worked under their own flag.

The Return

The end of 2006 revived the EMI label again. The first albums under the new, old names are expected in spring 2007. Artists such as C -Murder and Duece Poppi to Priority Records again make a successful hip-hop and rap record label.
