Criticism and competition

The low utilization of trains as well as too high perceived prices are the most common points of criticism in the press. Cause is the one that important places are not yet connected, on the other hand, the sharp competition. Goes to the airport and the metro Attiko Metro, which leads without having to change to the city center; the advantage of access to the Peloponnese and the north will wear only with the expansion of fruit. Moreover, mainly diesel-powered vehicles, because the route network is not yet fully electrified, used.

In 2006, the Proastiakos has seen an increase in passenger numbers by 30 % over the year 2005. 2007 Proastiakos Thessaloniki was put into operation.
