Prochorus (deacon)

Procorus is counted in the Book of Acts ( Acts 6:5 EU) of the seven deacons of the Jerusalem church. Its name comes from the Greek and means " lead dancer ".

According to tradition, was Procorus Hellenistic origin. Peter 've used it later as bishop of Nicomedia in Bithynia; he had worked as secretary of the Apostle John in the meantime. After his return to Nicomedia Procorus to have suffered martyrdom. His feast day in the Catholic and in the Orthodox Church June 28.
