Profiling

The term profiling referred in general terms to create, update and use of profiles, for example for the purpose of identification, optimization, monitoring or prediction. In particular, it referred to with respect to persons:

  • In forensics, the creation of a perpetrator profile by a profiler ( criminology )
  • In criminology, in the fight against terrorism and in general, the compilation and analysis of linked time and position information from people ( motion profile )
  • Marketing in the creation of customer profiles in target marketing through customer Profiler
  • Creating a profile of the addresses and call times of called internet services or web sites ( internet profile ); general: User Profile
  • Furthermore, the creation of a personality profile through collection of published information about social contacts, political opinion, personal view of the world, financial situation, health situation and further, which provide an overview of the personality
