Prostřední Bečva

Prostřední Bečva ( German means Bečva, formerly middle Beczwa or Mitter Beczwa ) is a municipality in the Moravian Wallachia in the Czech Republic. It is located nine kilometers east of Rožnov pod Radhoštěm and belongs to Okres Vsetín.

Geography

Prostřední Bečva is located at the transition between the Moravian- Silesian Beskids and the Vsetínské Hills Nature Park in PLA Beskydy. The village extends between the mouths of the creeks and Kněhyně Solánecký creek along the Rožnovská Bečva. To the north, the Bečovská Kyčera rise ( 783 m ), Na Gruni (670 m), Tanečnice ( 1084 m), Čertův Mlyn ( 1205 m) and Malinová ( 734 m ) in the north- east, the Bukovina ( 995 m), Blato ( 938 m ) and Červenec ( 759 m ) east of the Kobylská (804 m), the South East Jezerné ( 836 m) and Hluboký ( 848 m ) south of the Kyvňačky (815 m) and Kani (675 m), in the southwest of the Pobabnica ( 554 m), west of the Poskla ( 576 m) and in the northwest the Cerna hora ( 884 m), Velka Polana (980 m) and the Radhosť ( 1129 m). Through the village the European route 442/Staatsstraße I/35 Rožnov pod Radhoštěm leads to the Slovakian border, Makov Pass.

Neighboring towns are Polana, Burov, Bacov and Ježovec in the north, Kněhyně, Kotelnice, Pod Skalou and Na Fojtství in the northeast, Kršly, Horni Bečva and U Závorků in the east, Kyvňačka, Skalka and Radimov the southeast, Kubičky, Adámky and Na Uhlisku in the south, Pod kanim, Solanec pod Soláněm, Hutisko and Kašpírky the southwest, Adámky, Poskla and Vigantice in the west and Humenec, V Bílovém Dvoře, U Smočků, Kopeček, U Hajdu and Dolni Bečva in the northwest.

History

The upper valley of the Lower Beczwa was passed to the 16th century with dense forests and uninhabited. During the 16th century emerged on the territory of the municipality first Pasekarenwirtschaften. By the Lords of Zierotin on Rožnov was at the transition from the 16th to the 17th century, the colonization of the valley. The settlement was initially differed only in lower and upper Beczwa Beczwa. In 1640 settled at the transition between the two villages about 100 Vlachs. At the beginning of the 18th century, the elongated settlement Beczwa was again divided in 1717 and was first mentioned in the congregation Mitter Beczwa. In this period also saw the laying of the glassworks of Hutisko in the Valley of the Kněhyně. Until 1732 the village was gepfarrt to Rožnov, then it belonged to the parish of the new parish church of St. Joseph in Hutisko. In Mitter Beczwa 1775 was a bailiwick with a grist mill and a pestle. 1790 was the site of 100 houses and had 950 inhabitants. In the 19th century the Counts Kinsky were landlords. The residents of the village were to the 19th century almost entirely illiterate. The first lesson was carried out by a hermit on the Radhošťkamm in the hermitage Pusteven. Some better-off families sent their children to schools in 1820 by Hutisko, Bacov and Kněhyně. Later, it was also taught in Mitter Beczwa. 1846, the church was designated as a means Bečva or Prostřednj Beczwa. The Glashütte introduced in the mid-19th century, closed its doors. Until the mid- 19th century the village was always subservient to the rule Rožnov.

After the abolition of patrimonial Prostřední Bečva formed in 1850 a municipality in the district team Valašské Meziříčí. Its inhabitants lived from livestock and forestry, logging and timber floating on the Bečva. A large part away hired as seasonal workers in agriculture. Also at this time, an increasing migration started in the United States. Between 1876 and 1879 originated in Prostřední Bečva a new school building, but the school remained until 1924 a branch of the Bacover school. In Kněhyně a new school was built in 1887 also. At the end of the 19th century, the mountains became increasingly being sought by recreational use, 1891 was born in Pusteven the first tourist hotel. In 1900, 1678 people lived in Prostřední Bečva. The population consisted of 1619 Catholics, 47 Protestants and six Lutherans and Jews. At the beginning of the 20th century saw the first small businesses. As of 1910, the village belonged to the district Vsetín. In 1924 there were in Prostřední Bečva two saw mills and a brickyard with hydroelectric power plant. In addition, 1919-1930 was also a knitwear factory. Between 1932 and 1948 the road was interrupted by the war, built by Pusteven. In 1972 the teaching of Prostřední Bečva was set in 1979 joined the school in Kněhyně. Is taught to the 5th grade in elementary school in Bacov. In the town there are two kindergartens. In 2001, the church and cemetery were consecrated. The community started in 2001 a coat of arms and banners.
